J.R Green 19xx-1963
J.R. Green was a flying instructor at RAF Oakington and was Flight Commander with No2 Squadron in Germany Flying Swifts. He was posted to the Experimental Flying Department at RAE Farnborough. He had previously beetook the ETPS course in 1959.
In August 1963 he joined Short Brothers and Harland as an experimental test pilot to assist in the Belfast,Skyvan and SC.1 programmes. He was killed on the 2nd October 1963 when the SC.1 (XG905) he was flying crashed on the airfield at Belfast during an evaluation of the auto-stabiliser in attitude control.
